Toe of Doom™ 2: This Time It's Tarsal Update. Infection (basic staph, thankfully neither resistant nor Scott) has gotten into the bone. Apparently limited to the first joint of the toe, though an MRI is planned to make sure it hasn't spread. Was supposed to get a PICC line for IV antibiotics today, but the only thing grinding slower than the mills of the ghus is insurance co. bureauracy, so that will happen Tuesday.

Current plan is to have the Toecapitation© on the 29th, so as to not have to deal with new deductibles and such in the new year. It will be in-office, so I will be conscious, and plan on making mohel jokes throughout. There may be pictures taken, so beware.

Following that, it's roughly four weeks off from work (no pay, of course) whilst I heal. And during this time, my workplace is supposedly moving to a new location. Hoping they let me know where.

Oh, and someone tried to steal my car, again, tonight. Our neighbor happened to come outside and scared the clown off, but the driver's side mirror is dangling from its cables and the trim across the bottom of the window is dangling from the mirror mount. Joy to the fucking world.

And now back to the evening's drinking, already in progress.

Tired, tired, tired of all the crap. Walking away would be the best solution, but I have obligations to finish, not that it will matter for the most part. Blah.

Our little special needs kitty is gone. She had turned 10 in August, and was only a week or so short of celebrating the 10th anniversary of NPulsifer bringing her back to our house from St. Louis.

When I went downstairs at 10a to make some breakfast before Rohanna and I started going through all the storage tubs in the dining room, I noticed Badb laying on the floor in the dining room, which was not at all unusual. After cooking bacon and summoning Ro to get her share, I began to sort loose items, and realized Badb was still in the same position. I went to pet her, and she was stiff. Ro estimates she went sometime between 9-10a. It was quick, as her eyes were still open, and probably only momentarily painful, if that.

the back story, which is long )Badb was always a bit tetchy in the head, probably due to the effects of malnutrition and infestation as such an early age. But she was sweet and loving, and put up with my playing guitar with her whe she'd sit on my lap. I had done so with her just last night.

Here's a small gallery of pics of her; probably add more later. I'm sure Dragonet will post some when she can. That was the worst part, having to call her at RenFest and let her know.

Farewell, Badb, you silly little fluff muffin. I will miss you stopping dead in front of me as I walked along, especially on the stairs, and seeing you sprawled most inelegantly on the floor, or bed, or chair, begging to be petted.

Drove to work yesterday morning, and I thought I heard an add sound as I was going through the garage to park. Got out, and sure enough, the left rear tire was fairly flat. I'd had problems with it a year or so ago, so I figured it was the leaky valve stem issue come back. At lunch, I went down to take it to the nearest gas station to fill it up, but it was really, really flat. So instead I pulled the jack out of the trunk and managed to get the sucker off. First thing I see is a screw embedded in the middle of the tread.

So I'll be driving D2's car today while she takes mine to the tire place near here, and with luck they can fix it, or put a used one on in place of it, 'cause we certainly can't afford a new one.

Just fuck.

Update: After determining that the screw had chewed up the rubber (and don't we all hate it when that happens, at least afterwards?), for a mere $26 a perfectly good used tire is on the car. W00t!
