The "Most" Reverend Finn held a press conference today as the Kansas City-St. Joseph diocese ended a multi-person lawsuit related to child rape by local priests over a 50-year period by agreeing to a miniscule $10 million payout. What pissed me off the most (besides the institutional protection of pedophiles, and the executive decision to blame "homosexual" priests as cover) was the Archbishop's reference to acts "that may have happened" in his apologia.

They did happen, you rancid fucking piece of batshit, and your boss, the Prada Pope, spent decades covering up these heinous betrayals of trust throughout the decaying corpse of the One True Church. I almost hope your pathetic excuse for a God does exist, so you and the rest of your evil, disgusting ilk can be judged as you should be, and spend eternity being violated by talking toys, which is the least you pious, cross-dressing bastards deserve.

And no, it's not just Catholics. Pick a Christian cult (Department of Redundancy Department, line 2) and you'll find child molesters lurking under the robes and magic underwear. Power tends to corrupt, and pretend absolute power really does corrupt absolutely. But, of course, they're forgiven, becaue Jesus loves them. Fuck that holy fucking shit.

He quit rather than lower flag for Helms

As opposed to 61 U.S. Senators, including Obama and Claire Fucking McCaskill (but not McCain, who didn't make the vote at all)!

I have lived in Kansas and Missouri my entire life. My alleged representatives in the Senate have included such well-known protectors of the Constitution as Bob "Senator from ADM" Dole, Pat Roberts, Sam Brownback, Kit "Sen. Happy Hour" Bond and John "No Irish or Democrats Wanted" Ashcroft. So I was thrilled when McCaskill ran against Jim "No" Talent. I voted for her. She won. Foolishly, I expected her to be an actual Democrat, than just another useless twatwaffle.

So I guess we start answering the phone "Fuck Cheney" now, and look for more hospitable climes.

Update: fixed link (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] smofbabe!

if they are watching you.

via Boing Boing.

I shall attribute the difficulties I had posting this to problems with Firefox, rather than a black ops attack, 'cause I know I'm not important enough to be on that list, damnit. Fuck Hoover!

So I'm at home waiting for the KU-Villanova game, and I would really like to be watching the Davidson-Wisconsin game, but I'm stuck with Texas-Stanford. So when the pathetic announcer mentions that all the games are being shown live on streaming video. I go to CBS, click on the "watch live!" link, and get the following message:

For optimal viewing of the live show, we recommend Internet Explorer 6+ with Windows Media Player 9+. The player also works in Mozilla Firefox. If your system meets the above criteria and you are receiving this message, you may require a patch to Windows Media Player.

Issue: The Windows Media Player plug-in for Firefox is not included in Windows Vista and Windows XP Media Center Edition. Additionally the standard plug-in may be missing several necessary .dll files.

Resolution: Due to this issue, you have two options to view the player:

* The simpler choice is to use Microsoft Internet Explorer to access March Madness on Demand.
* If you really want to use Firefox on Vista or Windows Media Center, then please refer to the following article for patch instructions: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Windows_Media_Player#Missing_plugin. Please note: Our internal testing indicates that you will need to follow the instructions labelled Installing the new plugin AND Restoring the standard plugin.

So in other words, if you don't want to run a third-rate browser and a fifth-rate video system, fuck you.

Thanks a lot, assholes. I hope Bill's dick tastes good to you.

I got home from another pointless day at work to discover that Cheney had commuted "Scooter" Libby's jail term. With righteous indignation welling up, I watched "Countdown" and listened to the commentators discuss options available to Congress and to Patrick Fitzgerald. Keith Olbermann called for Cheney and Bush to resign, and will have a special commentary on that tomorrow. I'll certainly watch it, as the man is the most articulate voice of my feelings on the airwaves today.

But now, I'm just numb. I came of political age in the '70s, watching Watergate unravel every day in the paper and every night on the news, and devouring the House Impeachment Hearings the summer of '74. Now, of course, we have the editor of the Washington Post justifying Libby's lies, and Fox Noise and the rest of the Republican media machinery busily celebrating. Do I have any hope that anything will happen in response to this cynical obstruction of justice*? Not really. Libby's "defense fund" (bribe is such an ugly word) will pay his fine, and he'll quickly find employment at AEI or Cato or one of the dozens of Scaife-funded wingnut welfare organizations. And tomorrow another dozen or so US troops and many more Iraqi civilians will die, for no good reason. And tomorrow. And tomorrow.

Wasn't planning to tonight, but I am definitely drinking now. Balvenie Doublewood.

Despair.

*Yes, obstruction. By commuting the sentence, Cheney gives Libby the cover of his continuing appeal to take the Fifth if he's called before Congress or a grand jury. Very clever.
