We picked up NPulsifer and Gisele about 5.15p Friday, and after stops for beer and gas, ee hit the highway at 6p. Pulled into a Bob Evans in Columbia, MO at 8p, had a solid if unspectacular dinner, and were back on the road at 9p. Due to continuing highway construction in the St. Louis area, we wound up going through downtown St. Looie on I-70, then taking I-55 south to get to our friends, Mike and Karla Weaver. We arrived at 11p, and after unpacking, Mike and I sat down to catch up over Scotch and cigars. At about 2 or so, NPulsifer came down to use the facilities, and joined us. We chatted on a variety of subjects until 5a, when I forced myself to head upstairs and crash.

Woke up at 8a, to the sounds of Karla greeting the first arrivals for the annual Goodwill Tour. We went last year, during Rohanna's chemo, and the weekend was a major positive experience in her treatment. Usually, a bus is rented, but with so many people in dire financial straits, that didn't happen this year. Instead, several vehicles were enlisted to caravan from thrift store to thrift store. It was a great deal of fun, despite one place apparently not existing, and another being a Salvation Army community center, rather than a store. While trying to meet the other carload at a store near downtown, we managed to miss the turn and wound up taking Grand all the the way to I-70. When we called Mike for directions, his first words were "Before anything else, roll up the windows, lock the doors, and if you have to stop, leave plenty of room between you and the car in front." We made it there without incident, and after some more purchases, headed back to the ranch for another night of partying, made even more entertaining by the presence of some friends of the neighbors, who tried to keep up with our group and failed, badly. We got to see and chat with a bunch of our St. Louis friends whom we don't get to see near enough any more. It was loads of fun.

I crashed at 2a, and eas up by 8.30. We went to breakfast at Wild Bill's, meeting some of the other attendees there, then packed up and headed for home. But when I turned the key, the van wouldn't start. Fortunately, a jump got it going, and it ran fine after that. I was so tired, I found myself starting to nod off behind the wheel, and I stopped at Kingdom City so Dragonet could take over. Made it home fine, and the cats have almost forgiven us.

Rohanna got a bunch of blouses, and a couple of pairs of shorts for Dragonet, who chose to visit the St. Louis Zoo again. I wound up finding a couple of shirts and two ties so outstanding I couldn't pass them up. One of them was this. The other is an interesting stained glass pattern.

The price for all this fun will come due tomorrow, when I have to go to work, having traded days with Jon to be ready to leave on Friday. I should go to sleep soon. Should.

Yeah, I keep swearing I won't buy any more, then I see something like that.

The package arrived today. The shirt is lovely, and the li'l fellers wrapped inside came through just fine. I've put them in the humidor to get them settled.

Thanks again.

I still say it would be perfect if only it had puffy sleeves.
