Yes, we are back, after two consecutive weekends of attending cons, and we are pissed. TMBG, one of the great live bands ever, is touring again, and their schedule called for them to appear here in KC on Sept. 26. Happy happy! Then they announced that their opening act for all dates on this half of the tour would be Jonathan Coulton!!111!leventy!

However, in between those two announcements, their schedule changed. Instead of coming here, they are now going to Tulsa, and KC has been pushed to the second half of the tour, which almost certainly will not include the awesome sauce that is Jonathan Coulton. So I am Angry! I hate Tulsa with the blazing heat of a thousand burning suns! May giant zombie Oral Roberts and Billy James Hargis descend upon your town and rampage Godzilla-like through it, leaving despair, hair gel and sodomy in their wake! Die, you rat bastards, die!!!!!!!!

OK, feel better now. Have some tunes.

1) Bible Thump, Reverend Deadeye

2) Daily Nightly (Alternate Mix), The Monkees

3) Itching Me Softly, Paisley Yankolovich

4) Can I Get a Little Bit More, General Caine

5) Fool On The Hill, We Are Soldiers We Have Guns

6) Disco Ghetto, Jesse Malin and The St. Marks Social

7) Dimming of the Day [Live 1981], Richard Thompson & Linda Thompson

8) Little Room, The White Stripes

9) Friday, JJ Cale

10) Pigs.... (In There), Robert Wyatt

more

11) Pop Muzik (Pop Mart Mix), U2

12) Staring At Sound, The Flaming Lips (07/29/87 Cat's Cradle Chapel Hill NC)

13) (The Story of) Hamlet [Live 2000], Richard Thompson

I'm off to work. The ladies are conducting a yard sale here today and tomorrow. Come on by, pick up some stuff, cheap. I even contributed some shirts and ties to the mix.

As someone who lives in Tulsa, may I just say, in a tiny voice, "Um.....sorry?"

Dude, already done. Hot enough for my tomatoes to cook on the vines and still trying to get the gel off my stuffed sheep. AND have you ever tried to get Godzilla scatt out of your carpet?! The smell just never goes away :/

If you want to curse us...make it something horrable, like a Republican controled Government in the...oh, wait...already have that.

Ok, I've got it: What about curing us with reason...then wait to see what happens?!?

Can I hit "like" multiple times on this comment?

OH, I recently met Oral Roberts' gay grandson at the Pride Interfaith Worship Service. What an absolutely nifty young man! He showed this as part of his talk: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYa0wi4XzeI

Yes, you can...just PLEASE DON'T SEND ME TO FB!!!
I have managed to avoid FB so far. My Bio-family and employer are both on Facebook, and I wish to avoid both in my free time. Yes, both Westpig and Bunny have FB accounts, but they don't count - I don't mind seeing them in my free time.

I saw the vid and was quite impressed. I have also noticed on your LJ your involvement with GLBT issues. Congradulations! Having met in person both Reverend Roberts (Sr. and Jr.), which is quite a long story, I must say he is quite personable; I would like to meet him in person.

*g* No, you don't have to go to FB. I'm there because there are some people I care very much about who are only there. But my sister, nieces and nephew are on there so I limit my presence there to sound bytes, political stuff and lots of promo.

You'd have liked this young man; so very personable and approachable and now, very comfortable with himself. He still mourns that his uncle committed suicide, as he said in the video but he's found peace and happiness himself. I would enjoy hearing your stories of meeting Junior and Senior.

As for my involvement with LGBTQ issues, it's become really personal for me. I'm coming to consider identifying myself to be Queer since I really don't fit in anywhere else, despite my fairly low bi-sexual score on the Kinsey scale. I think true poly people almost have to identify this way since we certainly don't fit into 'normal' hetero society well t all. This has occurred especially after joining this Choir and starting the band I'm starting. I think this probably deserves a post all its own.

Ya know, Tulsa is only about three-ish hours south of KC and September 25th is a Sunday. Drive down in the afternoon, find a cheap motel nearby, and make a night of it. Not perfect, and not free, but better than all that hair gel, etc.
