Rusty Hevelin, 1922-2011, died this evening after a brief stay in hospice. He had been dealing with a variety of health issues for most of the year.
I don't remember when I first met Rusty, he was just always a part of my fannish life. Every time I saw that mane of white hair and long, flowing beard, I knew it was going to be a good con. And if he and Tucker were together, all bets were off.
He was always willing to help a new fan find their way, and share his immense knowledge of the history of fandom. He was, indeed, a good fan and true.
