Nearly Lost You

I'd been having an issue with my computer for a couple of weeks where the monitor wouldn't wake up when I booted. If I turned off the box and re-booted, it would fire up, sometimes after a time or two. I started turning off my monitor completely, and that seemed to help for a bit.
Last night, when I got home from work and went to slap the interweb needle back into the vein, it wouldn't go. No matter what I did. So I tried another monitor. Same thing, with either of the two video cards in my machine (G4 dual 450 2G RAM). So that indicated the problem was in the box somewhere (yeah, pretty good deductive process there). I had visions of the new hard drive dying, or the cpu, or any number of things I couldn't afford to fix. Despair. Sad drinking.
So, I called the Sys-Op. Pulsifer came by later and started pulling things out and putting them back in, re-starting repeatedly. And lo, when the second video card was pulled (which had gone wonky a while back, so I'd stopped using it), everything was just peachy! Joy! Happy drinking!
So thanks, dear friend, for keeping me from going into withdrawl.
