I have in my fridge two bottles of beer from the fine folks at Avery Brewing, whose products I have sampled on numerous occasions, always to fine effect. The first is The Kaiser, an Imperial Oktoberfest of excellent qualities. Following that I will consume The Czar, an Imperial Stout. When I bought them this afternoon, I told Paul Burns, the clerk at Gomer's, "I'm going to fight World War One in my stomach tonight!" He pointed out I needed a Serbian beer to start it off, but they were all out of Gavrilo Princip Lager (and I spelled his name right from memory!).

War is hell. Incredibly tasty hell.

Update: As always, the Kaiser delivers an excellent, malty experience. What Oktoberfest is all about, a blitzkreig of the mouth (oops, wrong war) with a clean finish.

With that said, The Czar is an amazingly good beer. Thick, creamy, dark, opulent. One of the best beers I've had this year (and that's saying something). The website recommends cellaring this beer, and I might well try to put a couple of bottles in the basement fridge and forget they are there. The forgetting part will not be easy. Highly recommended.
