The city finally showed up yesterday morning, and the shutoff valve is fixed. The plumbers are here now, so this fiasco might just be about to be finished. Maybe. Perhapps.
In the meantime, some music:
1) Batman, Link Wray
2) All We Have, Brazilian Girls
3) Within Without, The Ozark Mountain Daredevils
4) Severe Tire Damage Theme, TMBG
5) Funky Mississippi, Rufus Thomas
6) Got To Get You Into My Life, The Beatles
7) Know Your Chicken, Cibo Matto
8) The Losing End, Neil Young & Crazy Horse (Aichken Taiikukan, Nagoya, Japan 3/3/76)
9) Quit (Don't Say you Love Me), Neil Young (05-21-2002, Brixton Academy, London, England)
10) Hungry Basshead, Metawon
and then these played:
11) I Guess The Lord Must Be In New York City, Sinéad O'Connor
12) Mobilia Perpetua, Downliners Sekt
13) Brown Sugar, ZZ Top
I spent most of yesterday helping set up for a big Hallmark Ornament Collectors convention at the Westin Crown Center (same ballroom used for parts of the Heinlein Centennial). There are 7 large Xmas trees (and one life-size Barbie covered in ornaments) being displayed. They will be auctioned off at some point in the proceedings. The one that some of my tens of readers might be interested in is draped with various sf-related gew-gaws, including Star Wars and Star Trek pieces, and is entitled "Spruce: The Final Frontier." I don't have a link, but I'm sure a little googling will provide the info on this extravaganza, for those in the area who might be interested in dropping in.
Speaking of dropping in, we are having a "Not at Worldcon, Damnit!" party here tomorrow evening starting 8-ish. Drop Rohanna or Dragonet or myself a line to let us know you're gonna make it. BYO.
