After work tonight, I raced home and picked up Dragonet, and we headed south to Grandview, where we met Rohanna at her office. We had a decent but not spectacular Chinese buffet, then went to the local library, where we met Rohanna's daughter and grandson and saw a presentation by the fine folks at Turpentine Creek, a big cat and other carnivore rescue operation outside of Eureka Springs, Ark. After a brief film presentation and some Q&A with the assembled kids, we all went outside to see the stars of the show, two of two-year-old Bengal tigers. Just a pair of cute kittehs, albeit 7' long/tall, 200+ lbs. kittehs. And still growing, of course.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced weekend getaway in the Mdiwest area, Eureka Springs and the surrounding area are a lot of fun. I need to go back again, if only to finally fulfill my vow to visit the Carrie Nation Home with a pocket full of minis and christen it properly.

I need to get back to Turpentine Creek sometime. They were really nice people. I went there many, many years ago and got a chance to talk to them and look at the cats, and that is where I saved my mother from a jet of lion pee with a "GET DOWN MR PRESIDENT" style full-body takedown. We were both really grateful that worked.

Memories!

I love Eureka Springs. It's one of those places that really IS as nice as you remember it being when you get home.
