Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords Shot By Gunman. According to reports, the gunman walked up to the Congresswoman at a public meet-and-greet and opened fire (fifteen-twenty shots reported by witnesses), killing her and at least six others. A suspect was taken into custody.

I would like to hope this was an isolated act by a random nutjob, but somehow I doubt it. Especially with the spate of poorly-exploding packages arriving this last week.

I can hardly wait to hear how Rush, Glenn, G Gordon "Head Shot" Liddy and the rest spin this. Own it, boys!

Update: Apparently NPR was a bit premature in declaring Congresswoman Giffords dead, but she was shot in the head and gravely wounded. She is in surgery at this point (2:20p CST). And CNN is reporting a Federal judge was among the wounded.
