Another Bheer post
Jun. 23rd, 2008 10:50 pmThe Schmaltz Brewing Company makes a number of beers. Its regular 6-pack offerings are He-Brew (The Chosen Beer) Genesis Ale and Messiah Bold. They're ok, but nothing spectacular. The brewery shines, though, with its special releases. Every year they do their anniversary ale, Jewbilation. This year is Jewbilation 11, with 11 malts, 11 hops and 11% ABV. Also quite good is the Bittersweet Lenny R.I.P.A.
But tonight I want to talk about their offshoot, Coney Island Lagers. I have seen the Coney Island Lager, but never tried it. But now there are several new varieties, and I couldn't resist picking up Sword Swallower Steel Hop Lager. It has four malts and eight hops. The hops dominate, but without overwhelming the other flavors. Quite tasty; I'll probably pick this up again. But I'm really looking forward to Freaktoberfest, a blood red lager with an alcohol content of 6.66%. Yes, Jimmy, I'll get some for you, too.
