That is to say, Wednesday night I finally got around to putting the second 120G hard drive in my machine (farewell, OS 9! Alas, poor QuarkXpress!) and migrated my 11,931-strong iTunes and a bunch of stuff I haven't loaded yet over there. Still have 35G left, so the downloading shall continue unabated for a while yet.

The other highlight of the week also started Wednesday, when Dragonet called me at work to say NPulsifer called her to let us know he had a chance at his company's tickets to the ballgame that night. Given that Kansas City was in the middle of a minor monsoon (thanks, Gustav!), when the opportunity fell through, it wasn't a big loss, especially when the game was officially rained out.

Cut for cultural reasons )

Barring some kind of miracle, that's the last time I'll be singing "In-a-gadda-da-vida" during the seventh inning stretch this year. Made it to six games, and they won five. I'm looking forward to seeing the results of all the construction and renovation next year, and what they've done to the stadium, as well.

Saturday morning it's back to the dentist for the beginning of the process that will lead to my permanent teeth-like object, and then it will be off to the Ralphie Fantasy Football League draft. Once my invincible team is assembled, they will all bow before the might of Baconcats! As for Sunday, it's beer, football and baseball. Life is good, at least occasionally. My prediction: Patriots 37, Chiefs 10.

1) Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want, The Caulfield Sisters

2) Livin' in the Future, Bruce Springsteen (sadly, not a John Prine cover)

3) They Aren't The World, Culturcide

4) This Barstool's Reserved For My Heart, David Lindley & Wally Ingram

5) Bad Blood, Supergrass

6) Sleep, Au

7) Kingfisher Sweet, Canon Blue

8) Dimming Of The Day, Richard Thompson

9) afrobama, Cody ChesnuTT

10) Lovesick, Orange Juice

and the bonus:

11) (Silence), Ciccone Youth (all 1.04 of it)

12) May You Dream The Sweetest Dreams, Television Personalities

13) hafizz maidan, Muslimgauze

If you're handling the program book for a large (2000+) convention, it may seem like a good idea to hang the info for ads for the book off your personal web site.

Clue 1: It's not.

Clue 2: Especially if you make anyone looking for the info register with your site, complete with logins and passwords that have to be confirmed before one can actually get to the relevant page.

Clue 3: After all that, it would behoove said person to actually have some actual information related to the specs for the book, prices, formats, deadlines, just one single fucking thing about the goddamn book!

Ahem.

Oh, and bonus clue 4: since there is no info whatsoever, including basic contact info on the con's official website for said person, it would be nice if the person answering the frantic emails happened to know the correct email for the program book person (hint: .com =/= .org).

Or, to put it more cromulently:

Program book: ur doin' it wrong.

We are now returning to our regularly scheduled drinking, which is already in progress.
