Two days after the amazing "1984" ad that ran during the Super Bowl, Apple officially unveiled the Macintoch, without which all of this would not have been necessary. Think about it -- a world of 8-bit music and ascii pr0n *shudder*. In other news, there have been no setbacks on the continuing saga of the Penguin Palace. Only waiting on Rohanna's W-2. Soon, maybe. Onward, to the tunes.

We got lucky and only caught the southern fringes of the latest Polar Vortex (or, as the Reality Channel Formerly Known as TWC referred to it, Winter Storm Anus), so it only got to single digits positive, rather than negative this time. Warming up for the weekend (53˚ on Sunday!), but then back to the teens Monday. So, of course, my space heater decided to give up this morning. Yo, Canada, keep yer damn cold air to yourself! Oh, and you can have Bieber back, as well.

I confess, it's my fault. Last Sunday I attended church for the first time since they stopped paying me to go, some 30+ years ago. Now why would I do that, you ask? Because Jesi Lipp, daughter of my late friend Richard Lipp, was giving the sermon. It was an interesting experience. The people were very nice to myself, Dragonet and Rohanna, despite it being fairly obvious we didn't really belong there, and Jesi did a fine job. She is looking at going into the ministry, and she definitely has the potential to do well at it. And I am given to understand that temperatures should be returning to normal soon (it would have been quicker, but Hell's boiler system is running Vista, of course).

Following church and lunch with the Lipps, we got home in time for the AFC and NFC championship games, both of which were quite entertaining. I was especially pleased to see the Packers lose at home in the cold, with the bonus of GRRM's beloved Giants making the Super Bowl. And then there's this, which is just wronger than wrong, ganked from the antipodeally delicious Smofbabe, who nicked it from George his own bad self.

Another weekend, some more tunes.

1) I'm Wrong About Everything, John Wesley Harding

2) Under the Big Black Sun, X

3) Antarctica Starts Here, Okkervil River

4) Country Feedback, R.E.M.

5) Lovers Prayers, Ida

6) Love For Sale (Extended Mix), Talking Heads

7) Everyone's Gone To The Movies (Demo), Steely Dan

8) He'll Be Back for Solstice, A Very Scary Solstice

9) God Will Fuck You Up, (artist unknown)

10) Vincent (Starry Starry Night), Don McLean (live, 1975 Ebbets Field NY)

and onward

11) Janine, Soul Coughing

12) Barrel Of A Gun, Depeche Mode

13) The Stars Of Track And Field, Belle & Sebastian
