drpaisley: (balrog butt)
As some of you might have noticed, no random 10+ Friday, as once again I headed in to work early to deal with the massive storm of Ha//mark material which was supposed to be waiting when I got there. Not so much, as usual. I got everything on hand done by noon or so, and then Jon and I sat around waiting and waiting, while the boss got more and more cranky about it. Which, considering Jon normally has Friday off, was not unreasonable. At 4p the first batch arrived, and a second followed shortly after 5, with the promise of more later that evening. Jon and I got things running, and agreed to come in at 8a on Saturday to deal with the rest of it.

I managed to force myself awake at 6a, and stumbled to work at 8, where (surprise, surprise) no actual further work awaited. I laminated and mounted the material that had run overnight, and got a bunch finished, while Jon ran the rest of the stuff, which took a little over 4 hours. Tomorrow I will be going at 8a to get everything done, and then wait for whatever still isn't in yet.

From work, I was going to pick up James Hollaman so he could join us for the weekend, but he's fighting a bad cold, so I just dropped off and picked up miscellaneous materials from him and headed home. Other than some grocery shopping, the rest of the day was reasonably calm.

Tonight, after watching the US-Canada Olympic hockey gold medal game, I headed over to NPulsifer and Gisele's for dinner with them and his son Eric, after which we headed out to see Evil Dead, The Musical. Despite some issues with the performers' voices, it was absolutely freakin' hilarious, and well worth seeing. It's playing the 1st, 6th and 7th of March at the Block Stage at Union Station. Go, go I say!

But even that trip had its issues. My car, the '02 Intrepid, had started occasionally overheating last week, and I was going to drop it off at the mechanic's when I had a chance. Well, we decided to use it to go to the play, and about halfway there it started boiling over (previous checks of the system had shown it to be fully hydrated). We let it sit a few minutes, and refilled the overflow with antifreeze, then stopped at a gas station and added water. This didn't help much at all, so we had to swing by our house (fortunately nearby) and switch to the van.

So the Intrepid will be going in Tuesday to get what I am assuming is a thermostat-ectomy of some kind. Can't do it tomorrow, as I have to be at work by 8 and the mechanic's doesn't open until then. Joy and rupture, as usual. At least this will be a short week.
